Disport – Botox – Botulinum Toxin Injections

What is Botox® / Disport™?

Botox ® / Disport ™ is a muscular relaxation therapeutic agent derived of the Clostidrium Botulinum bacteria. This is usually used in treatments that correct visible signs of stress and aging that are shown in people’s faces.

A type Botulinum toxin – Botox®/Disport™- is used in its liquid state to be infiltrated in people who seek to restore a younger look to their skin.

What does the procedure consist of?

This procedure needs a previous application of ice and anesthetic cream over the area that is going to be infiltrated. After that, the botulinum toxin is infiltrated with small needles. The procedure will be focused on those muscles that are contracted and cause lines and wrinkles to appear.

The substance will restrict the movement of the muscles giving your face a new appearance.

This is a quick and effective treatment which lasts 10 minutes. After Dr. Robles has performed the infiltration, the area will be put ice to avoid and excessive inflammation.

During the procedure, you will only feel a bit of a discomfort on the area that was injected.

Am I a good candidate?

Patients need to have realistic expectations towards the improvement of their appearance and must be willing to follow all of the instructions given by Dr. Robles to meet those expectations.

During the first consult, the doctor will ask the patient some questions related to your medical history, to verify that he or she can undergo the treatment.

How is the recovery?

Recovery after the treatment is immediate; it is possible that you notice a minor swelling or bruises on the area of the infiltration, but after two or three days they will disappear.

What are the risks?

This is a treatment that poses minimal risks, which are also temporary. Botulinum toxin has proteins, which means that, in some cases, the body could create antibodies. In those cases the effects of the treatment will be fewer than what is usually expected.

You may experience some bruising of temporary flushing of the skin, but these will disappear three days after the infiltration.

In very extreme and rare cases, there could be asymmetries.

How long do the results last?

The results of the treatment are usually seen three days after the infiltration. The maximum effect will be seen approximately 10 to 14 days after the treatment. Once the muscles are relaxed and the skin notices that difference, you will see yourself much younger. In any case, you must take into account that this procedure does not achieve the same results you can get with a lifting. In some cases, Dr. Robles may consider it best to perform both procedures at once to get the results you want. There is also a chance to apply the treatment together with laser techniques to achieve better results.

What do I need to get the procedure done?

This procedure does not need any previous preparations. You will just need to attend to the previous consults with Dr. Robles, as well as his approval to do the procedure to treat your condition and improve your condition.
