Facial Rejuvenation Laser Skin Resurfacing

What is a facial remodeling with laser?

As years go by the sun, environmental factors or toxins to which we are usually exposed can cause the deterioration of our facial skin, which in turn exposes the signs of aging. These are shown as fine wrinkles round the eyes, forehead, lips and the space between the eyebrows. At the same time, the skin becomes more flaccid and it loses its usual tone.

Facial remodeling is a procedure that allows the correction of all these conditions that affect how your skin looks. The laser used for these corrections are CO2 and Erbium lasers. These repair the skin defects caused by aging.

Am I a good candidate?

The best candidates are those people who are in great health to be able to undergo the procedure. Dr. Robles will asses your medical history, as well as the skin type and pigmentation.

What does the surgery consist of?

Once Dr. Robles has authorized you for the surgery, you will go into the operating room. In there, he will take pictures of the area to compare them with the results. After this, the doctor will anesthetize or sedate you to begin with the treatment.

This treatment reduces wrinkles notably and improves the aspect of your skin without having to perform incisions or stitches. The laser shoots a beam of light which immediately evaporates the aimed tissue without damaging any adjacent areas. Dr. Robles will guide the laser over the areas that need to be treated to remove the outer skin layers to flatten the wrinkles. At the same time, the treatment may be used to treat acne, age spots, freckles, irregular pigmentation, keloids, etc. once the laser removes these first skin layers, a regeneration process will start, which will be softer and smoother, giving you a younger look.

How is the recovery?

After leaving the operating room, Dr. Robles will indicate the use of antibiotic creams and other treatments to begin the healing process.

In the first two weeks, the skin will regenerate; the skin must be moisturized and looked after at all times. The new skin will probably be reddish for a few weeks due to the treatment.

What are the risks?

The possible risks of this procedure are related to persisting flushing, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation or herpes. There is also a risk because of using anesthetics.

How long do the results last?

Once the first results are obtained, this will be permanent. You must take into account that aging, environmental factors or your lifestyle may have consequences on your skin, it may be necessary to do another laser treatment. After the treatment Dr. Robles will determine if it is necessary or not to have another session.
